For my Senior Capstone Project I have chosen to work on The Rankin House in Lacombe, LA. This house was built in 1939 and it is of the Art Deco style. I plan on assisting the actual owner in turning this home into a boutique hotel and selecting materials and finishes for the project. My client would like to have some Art Deco influences but keep a modern feel. If my project turns out well, my client will be using some of my ideas to hopefully complete her project and open the hotel for business.
How did they originally build this house with a second story and no floors? Or interior support walls?
